Blushing Monk Raspberry Ale

  • Recipe Type: extract w/grain
  • Batch Size: 5 gallons
  • O.G: 1.061
  • F.G: 1.016
  • IBUs: 7
  • SRM: 19
  • Boil Time: 60 minutes

Grain Bill

  • 6 lbs. Amber Malt LME
  • 1 lbs. Gambrinus Honey Malt
  • .5 lbs. American Crystal 10L
  • 1 lbs. Honey

Additional Ingredients

  • .5 tsp Gypsum
  • 1 tsp Irish Moss
  • 1 bottle of raspberry extract

Brew Schedule

  • Steep specialty grains in 1 gallon of water for 15 mins @ 150°
  • Sparge with 170° 1.5 gallons of water and bring to a boil.
  • Remove from burner and add extract, and honey. Return to a boil for 60 minutes
  • Add Irish Moss at the last 15 minutes of the boil.

Hop Schedule

  • .5oz Mt. Hood (3.8% AA), 45 minutes before the end of the boil
  • .25oz Mt. Hood (3.8% AA), 15 minutes before the end of the boil

Yeast and Fermentation

  • White Labs WLP0001 California Ale
  • Primary Fermentor - 1 week ; Secondary - 5 days
  • Bottling - Use 2/3 cup corn sugar for priming
  • Kegging - Carbonate with 2.6-2.8 volumes of C02.
  • Add raspberry extract directly to bottling bucket or keg.
